Become A Tattoo Artist in Honolulu

Honolulu Tattoo Apprenticeship

Now Serving the Greater Honolulu Area

Ink Different Tattoos has brought its Tattoo Apprenticeship program to Oahu. Aspiring Tattoo Artists from across Honolulu and the surrounding communities can now train with a working studio in one of the city's most creative districts, including students coming from:

  • Waikiki.
  • Kaka'ako.
  • Manoa.
  • Kaimuki.
  • Pearl City.

Training at Keesh Tattoo

The Honolulu Tattoo Apprenticeship program is hosted at Keesh Tattoo, a boutique studio on Kapiolani Boulevard opened in 2023 by owner and Tattoo Artist Kameen.

The shop sits along the Ala Moana and Kaka'ako corridor, a part of town known for murals, galleries and new creative spaces. Detail-driven custom work is the focus here, and the studio fits naturally into a neighborhood that takes art seriously.

Work produced at the studio includes:

  • Fine-line tattoos.
  • Illustrative micro-realism.
  • Custom pet memorial portraits.
  • Illustrative hand and finger tattoos.

Learning in a studio built around precise, small-scale work means apprentices pick up exact needle control and careful technique from the very start, the same skills that make every other style easier to master.

Kameen - Owner of Keesh Tattoo

The Honolulu Tattoo Apprenticeship program is led by Kameen, the Tattoo Artist who owns Keesh Tattoo. He first picked up the craft around 2014 to 2015, set up his own private studio in Los Angeles, and later relocated to Hawaii, where he opened Keesh Tattoo in 2023.

His portfolio centers on clean fine-line work and illustrative micro-realism. He is known in Honolulu for custom pet memorial tattoos that capture fur texture and expression at a tiny scale, and for illustrative hand and finger pieces, a notoriously tough area, that keep their lines over time. His designs often mix a playful, cute style with an edgier attitude.

Having built a studio from the ground up in two different states, Kameen brings a business owner's perspective to mentoring. Apprentices learn how to think and work like professionals, not only how to run a machine.

As a Mentor within the Ink Different network, Kameen provides apprentices with instruction in:

  • Professional tattoo technique and needle control.
  • Fine-line and micro-realism precision.
  • Working on challenging areas of the body.
  • Client consultations and communication.
  • Sanitation and safety standards.
  • Studio ethics and professional standards.
